Self Discipline is the number one trait which is most needed to succeed in any thing worth achieving. Teaching our children to develop this habit is the absolute responsibility of each and every child's parent. Sometimes this may seem very overwhelming and almost impossible to do, especially if the parent lacks the understanding of the skill itself. So, truly this most needed trait for success must at first be understood and mastered by parents in order to pass it on to our children. The skill of self discipline, like any other skill, needs to be learned and practiced daily so to insure it becomes a part of who we are! Self discipline is much different than discipline and the two should never be confused. Discipline is typically what parents resort to out of frustration of their child's bad behavior, it is reactive. Self discipline is much more difficult to apply because it is pro active and requires effort, on the part of the parent, to teach and master. When self discipline is learned by the child then many doors open which includes positive and more respected behavior! This is truly a most valuable skill that each and every one of us should learn, master and apply!
